It’s been years since I’ve written in my blog. The pandemic changed things. I didn’t have the heart to write. I was depressed, lost job, isolated. Paranoid and scared. Masks and disinfect is all I became to know.
I did end up catching COVID. I was close to someone who listed my symptoms on day one. That is was a sign of what’s to come. I doubled my mask, added paper towels and went a block and half to fetch me a whole chicken. Ginger pieces, lemons, green tea, and a bottle of Kombucha mango, peach. I put the chicken in the crock pot with onions, and lots of vegetables frozen and fresh. I made a pot of tea with all the ingredients bought and let it simmer including the Kombucha. As the day went on, the sicker I got. Every time I had to crawl to the bathroom.
On return to my bed, I would take a spoon of soup and a tiny cup of tea mix and went back to bed for 4 days before I felt better. Blackness was coming out my lungs. I lost 15% of my lung capacity, test done in 2024. I am on a pump. Not yet used to remembering to bring it with me. I caught COVID again 2 years later, not as bad as the first round. Did the same routine…
These days I carry my disinfect bottle and my masks are in pockets, on the ready. I did so much reading that I know a sneeze travels and so do coughs. Tiny particles are eyes cannot see, they travel up, down and across for lengths, falling on peoples coats, arms, hands, hair, hats. Once you know something you can’t unknown it.Glass half full..
I've shredded most if not all my fear and paranoia over catching COVID but it has left me to be cautious and prepared.
I was finally released from the shackles of my apartment. I started connecting with my community again. Having lunch with friends. Walking freely around, swimming out doors, getting into cars and taking off on adventures once again. Free to be. Bless
Things have drastically changed in Quebec, Canada since 2022. I’ve always been a rebel at heart, controversial, an activist lying in wait.
It found me again. In 2024…
I haven’t been in an activist role since the last climate march. If I could remember the year I’d of said so. That’s how long.
Climate change. Just watch the weather channel the global videos they show. You’ll be all caught up on the effects world wide.
You get to the right to deny it’s a problem. But some things are just not lies.
We are globally under threat. Mother Nature is bitch smacking every thing in her wake. It makes me too sad to continue down this path, dragging down the reader, with me.
So what has my focus these days!? Quebec politics
The absolute gut wrenching laws they put in place harming over 64% of the population
Bill 96 harming businesses, education, inheritances, Justice system, paper work, services, all affected by Bill 96
The confusion, can services say 'Bonjour' followed by 'Hello'?
Bill 21. How racist is that law? How fearful is CAQ Govt.
How many of us were taught by teachers who wore nun habits? If that was acceptable, why can't Muslims where their clothing? Granted I agree we need to see your face as you are passing us by on the streets.
I find it filled with hypocrisy, and all this unnecessary suffering. We opened the doors and welcomed immigrants in to assimilate not be a skeleton of their existence.
The other contention, Bill 40. Education has always been out of our hands growing up. Back in the day. Whether you were an immigrant, or born in Quebec. French School boards had the right to refuse entry to immigrants. Or even Franglais, the mix breed like me. Today, The French School boards are dismantled with bureaucracy in place. English School boards fairing in high marks in comparison to the low education quality, the French sector s getting, now. Teachers with no certificates to even be in that profession. While qualified are discriminated against by laws, bill 21 bill 96. The English school boards have to keep fighting to stay in control of their English education. Effects of Bill 96 Let me tell you the effect on English Universities and CEGEP's next time I blog.
I've decided to get involved. I've volunteered my time to help bring awareness of the struggles for Canadians from Quebec. The effects are endless. The French media is either stifled to report or ignoring the effects millions of Quebec Canadians face everyday here since the CAQ has been in power. You thought the Pauline Marois days were dark. This today is Fascism we are facing. Where free to be has been stripped. Back door designs on Quebec, while their citizens are expected to shed their heritages, language and denounce all that was built by their ancestors. While they watch helpless...
It's time to rise and have our voices be heard.
Democracy, a hard wheel to turn
Oh Canada
We still stand on guard for thee
We bleed and we bleed to be seen
As Canadians from Quebec
Until next time
Stay steadfast and true to you.
Self care
